A betyl bearing a Greek transcription of a Phoenician expression meaning “house of the god,” made of gray granite and adorned on one side with a human figure with animal ears. On the reverse is the same inscription in Punic characters. This pebble may be a representation of Baal Hammon, symbolizing his terrible strength (H. 32 cm, W. 28 cm, provenance unknown, 5th century B.C., Bardo Museum). Punic Section—Bardo Museum
