House of the Waterfall in the Roman residential quarter. Utica is an archaeological site located on the site of an ancient port city founded by the Phoenicians in antiquity. It is located in northern Tunisia, about thirty kilometers northwest of Carthage. The city is believed to have been founded in 1101 BCE as a Phoenician trading post. It is renowned as one of the oldest cities in the western Mediterranean.
