The Makthar archaeological site, the remains of ancient Mactaris, in central-western Tunisia, is located in Makthar, a town on the northern edge of the Tunisian mountain range. The site is one of the largest in the country, and a large portion of it has not yet been excavated. In addition to the numerous ruins housed within the archaeological park—such as the forum, the thermal baths, and the Schola des Juvenes—a small museum displays various archaeological artifacts found on the site.
