July 23, 2021: In the emergency room at Mongi Slim Hospital in La Marsa, a northern suburb of Tunis, department head Dr. Nour Nouira and her team are navigating the daily challenges of a highly stressful COVID-19 crisis. All the rooms, lobbies, and hallways of the department have been repurposed for COVID-19 patients, while the team simultaneously manages routine emergency cases. The strain on the oxygen supply, which is under heavy demand due to the overload of patients, is the major problem, compounded by staff shortages in the face of the Delta variant.
