A new confrontation erupted between, on one side, the protesters demonstrating against the internal political dealings of the Constituent Assembly, and on the other, more than two thousand Ennahda activists who had come to support the new government and contain about a hundred aggressive Salafists. The day’s clashes were purely verbal, thanks to Ennahda’s impressive security detail, which, together with the police, managed to contain the Salafists who, once night fell, attacked the protesters—who were under police protection.
