April 10: In the aftermath of the events and the excessive police violence against protesters who had come to celebrate Martyrs' Day on H. Bourguiba Avenue, a small group of demonstrators gathered at the call of opposition deputies from the ANC at the upper end of Habib Bourguiba Avenue. A large police presence blocked the advance of some 300 peaceful demonstrators seeking to reach the Ministry of the Interior. The standoff was tense but peaceful. Meanwhile, a meeting was taking place at the Ministry of the Interior with opposition lawmakers who had come to demand explanations and sanctions for the actions that had occurred the previous day by the police and a possible Nadhaouist militia.
