Statement to the press by Mehdi Mabrouk, Minister of Culture, following the “Council of Elders” meeting convened at the Prime Minister’s Office to find a solution to the serious political crisis rocking the country. “The purpose of this meeting was not to support Mr. Jebali’s proposal but to assess the overall situation, independently of political parties,” said Mehdi Mabrouk, Minister of Culture, following the meeting, which lasted more than three hours. “Their analysis was clear,” he continued. “They emphasized the urgency of the situation, the need for a timeline for the upcoming elections, the legitimacy of the National Constituent Assembly, and the need to raise awareness among social actors and journalists about all these issues.”
