October 23, 2013: Two years after Tunisia’s first free elections, several thousand protesters took to H. Bourguiba Avenue in Tunis to protest against the current government, call for the launch of a national dialogue, and pay tribute to the political martyrs assassinated in recent months. The security situation and political tensions are at the heart of the Tunisians’ demands. The day was marked by the deaths of six more gendarmes at the hands of Salafists near Sidi Bouzid in central Tunisia.
