December 17, 2013: Prayers in Kasbah Square. Several hundred people answered the call from the Ansar Sharia organization to demonstrate at the Kasbah in commemoration of December 17—the date the Tunisian revolution began—but also, and above all, to warn against a return to repression against their organization. The demonstrators consisted mainly of supporters of the Ansar Sharia movement and a few members of the Leagues for the Protection of the Revolution. A heavy police presence was noted at the scene, and participants in the demonstration were systematically searched by the organizers.
