December 17, 2013: Several hundred people answered the call from the Ansar Chariâa organization to demonstrate at the Kasbah in commemoration of December 17—the date the Tunisian revolution began—but also, and above all, to warn against a return to repression against their organization. The demonstrators consisted mainly of supporters of the Ansar Chari’a movement and a few members of the Leagues for the Protection of the Revolution. A heavy police presence was noted at the scene, and participants in the demonstration were systematically searched by the organizers.
