January 9, 2014: The National Constituent Assembly adopted a version of Article 45 that enshrines the protection of women’s acquired rights and the principle of gender parity in elected assemblies. Some Ennahdha lawmakers protested following the adoption of the amendment, which notably establishes the principle of gender parity.
