On the evening of Sunday, January 26, 2014, the National Constituent Assembly (NCA) adopted the new Tunisian Constitution. Members of the Assembly proceeded to a formal vote following the first reading of the 149 articles of the Constitution. The adopted text of the Constitution received more than the required 145 votes out of 217 elected members (200 in favor, 12 against, and 4 abstentions).
