November 23, 2014: Four hours after the polls closed, Hamma Hammami, the Popular Front’s presidential candidate, delivered a speech in which he thanked everyone who had helped make his election campaign—which he described as “successful and beautiful”—a success. By finishing in third place, Hammami confirmed his role as an outsider in Tunisian politics. He concluded his speech with a declaration of love for the Tunisian people: “I loved you, I love you, and I will always love you.”
