December 14, 2014: Nadia Marzouki, Marzouki’s daughter, at Moncef Marzouki’s large rally, which drew a packed house at the Coupole in Tunis one week before the second round of the presidential election. Moncef Marzouki called on his supporters “not to fall into the trap of insults and not to speak ill of his rival, Béji Caid Essebsi,” while asserting, “We have the right to judge this man for his past and for his destructive role during the transitional period…, but our struggle is one of values and ethics.” The incumbent president and candidate in the second round of the presidential election held a rally on Sunday at the El Menzah Sports Palace. His supporters, who had come from various regions of the country, chanted slogans hostile to his rival, Béji Caid Essebsi, and his party, Nidaa Tounes.
