With a lead of 8 to 10 points according to the polls, Beji Caid Essebsi won Tunisia’s first free presidential election since the 2011 revolution. Upon this announcement, large numbers of supporters gathered to celebrate the projected victory outside the party’s campaign headquarters in the very upscale Berges du Lac neighborhood of Tunis.
