September 8, 2015: Tour of the Medina of Tunis accompanied by Cgedly Ayari, Governor of the Central Bank of Tunisia. Two-day visit to Tunis by Christine Lagarde, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). As part of her second official visit to Tunisia—her last visit to the country had been in 2012—she met with President Beji Caïd Essebsi, Central Bank Governor Chedly Ayari, and Prime Minister Habib Essid. Her key messages: confidence and reforms in a challenging context. Amid this busy schedule, she chose to visit the Medina of Tunis to reaffirm the importance and value of tourism, and she paid a visit to the Bardo Museum to lay a wreath in tribute to the victims of the March 18 attack.
