November 28, 2015: Leyla Bouzid, a young Tunisian filmmaker, received several awards—the Bronze Tanit, the FIPRESCI Prize, a Special Mention from the UGTT Jury, and the TV5 Monde Jury Prize—for her film “As Soon as I Open My Eyes.” The closing ceremony of the JCC took place at the Municipal Theater of Tunis, in the heart of the capital, which had been devastated just a few days earlier by a suicide terrorist attack that killed 12 members of the presidential guard. The ceremony, moved up due to a curfew, served as a tribute to the culture that stood up to terror throughout the week and provided an opportunity to honor artists and filmmakers from the Arab-African world.
