M33-321

January 21, 2016: At 7:50 p.m., despite the 6:00 p.m. curfew, the cafés in Kasserine are packed. While Tunisian television broadcasts Tunisian President Béji Caïd Essebsi’s first address since the riots began, the young people, paying little attention, no longer expect much from politicians. Social tensions have risen since the beginning of the week following the death of Ridha Yahyaoui, a young unemployed man, after he was electrocuted. Despite this, no looting has been reported in the city.
