22 janvier 2016 : dans le quartier populaire et deshérité de Karma sur les hauteurs de Kasserine, Hussein Gassoumi, maçon journalier, nous invite dans sa maison où il vit avec sa feme et trois enfants. ici la vie est très dure. Hussein Gassoumi ouvre les portes de sa maison en chantier. Les murs sont constitués de parpaings empilés les uns sur les autres, sans enduit. Aucun revêtement n’est installé au sol, laissant passer l’air froid sous les portes, et les lits sont de simples sommiers métalliques. L’électricité ? «Quand j’ai de quoi payer la facture».
