M33-451

January 27, 2016: Sabra Abaidi showed us around her home and explained her living conditions, along with her entire family—her son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren. This is the working-class, impoverished neighborhood of Karma, located in the hills above Kasserine. Here, people live surrounded by trash and build their homes haphazardly, even spilling into the wadis. Families live crammed into houses that, while made of solid materials, are extremely precarious—no windows, no doors, no heating, and no running water for some. The children’s only playground is the trash.
