These attacks, attributed to ISIS, were aimed at seizing control of the city of Ben Guerdane. The clashes, which lasted much of the day in the heart of this border town of 60,000 inhabitants, resulted in the deaths of 36 terrorists and the capture of 7 others, as well as the deaths of 12 soldiers and security officers and 7 civilians. This was an unprecedented attack on Tunisian soil.
