March 22, 2016: Press conference by Tunisian Foreign Minister Khemaies Jhinaoui and the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Libya, Martin Kobler, following two days of deliberations at the 8th Ministerial Meeting of Libya’s Neighboring Countries in Tunis. Mr. Jhinaoui emphasized that the control of certain regions of Libya by terrorist organizations was a source of “extreme concern.” It is therefore imperative to “accelerate” the Presidential Council of the Government of National Accord taking office so that it can begin its mission to combat terrorism, he added. For his part, Kobler assessed that the political process in Libya was “precarious” because some members of parliament had abstained from voting on the Government of National Accord, in addition to statements by certain parties regarding their intention to prevent this government from entering the capital to assume office.
