August 26, 2016: New Prime Minister Youssef Chached delivered a speech seeking a vote of confidence before members of the People’s Representatives Assembly and presented his new national unity government, consisting of 26 ministers and 14 secretaries of state. In particular, he announced a series of measures to combat terrorism and corruption and to revive the economy and investment. After painting a troubling picture of the Tunisian economy and its debt, he promised to tackle administrative reform, including a reduction in the number of civil servants.
