Since recent matches have seen a great deal of violence and clashes between ultras and the police, entry procedures to the stadium are strict and overseen by nearly 3,000 police officers. In Tunis, it’s the big day—the soccer derby, the match between the two current top teams in the league and Tunis’s two flagship teams, Club Africain (CA) versus Espérance de Tunis (EST), at the Radès Stadium in the southern suburbs of Tunis. CA holds the advantage in this rematch, as it controls ticket sales. Given the numerous clashes between fans and ultra groups—both among themselves and with the police—inside the stadiums, only 23,000 tickets are being sold (out of a capacity of 60,000), including 1,200 for EST—though only about 50 of those will be in the south stands. The match will end with a surprise 2–1 victory for CA.
