January 27, 2019: Kamel Hadj Sassi. Launch rally for the new Tunisian party Tahya Tounes (Long Live Tunisia) in Monastir. This new party is backed by the National Coalition group, the second-largest bloc in the Assembly with 44 members of parliament. Their credo: to support the head of government, Youssef Chahed. Although Youssef Chahed was expected to represent the party, he was notably absent from the rally. Several prominent figures spoke at the podium: Mustapha Ben Ahmed (leader of the National Coalition bloc), Faten Kallel (former executive at Afek Tounes and former Secretary of State for Youth and Sports), Kamel Hadj Sassi (former Secretary of State under Ben Ali and advisor to the Kasbah), Amel Belkhiria (formerly of Al Joumhouri), Mondher Marzouk (mayor of Monastir), and Slim Azzabi (former chief of staff to President Beji Caïd Essebsi).
