September 3, 2019: A rally in support of Nabil Karoui, a presidential candidate currently in prison, was held outside the Tunis courthouse. This morning, the Indictment Chamber—part of the Judicial, Economic, and Financial Division—is reviewing and ruling on the request for the release of Mr. Nabil Karoui, a candidate in the early presidential election, and at the Tunis Court of Appeals. Nabil Karoui has been imprisoned since August 23 following an arrest that is both questionable and troubling for Tunisian democracy, but even in prison, he remains a presidential candidate.
