September 18: Profile of Kais Saïed, a presidential candidate who won the first round with 18.4% of the vote; he will face imprisoned candidate Nabil Karoui in the presidential runoff sometime in October. Kais Saïed, a law professor and an unconventional, independent candidate, is a conservative. Since his victory, he has received support not only from the Islamists of Ennahdha but also from losing candidates such as Abbou and Marzouki. Here he is in his campaign office in downtown Tunis.
