October 13, 2019: Tunisia is voting today in the second round of the presidential election; voters must choose between Nabil Karoui, president of the Qalb Tounes (“Heart of Tunisia”) party, who was released from prison four days ago, and Kais Saied, an independent and unconventional candidate. Voter turnout at noon was 17.6 percent, one percentage point higher than in the first round; youth turnout appears to be stronger today.
