October 13, 2019: Tens of thousands of citizens gathered spontaneously on Habib Bourguiba Avenue in Tunis to celebrate Kais Saied’s victory in the presidential election. At 8 p.m., polling organizations declared Saied the clear winner with nearly 75% of the vote. This is a victory of the people over the political system; it is the people’s revolution at the ballot box. The massive gathering took place in a calm and respectful atmosphere, filled with the joy and hope of citizens of all ages for a new Tunisia—the one envisioned by the aborted revolution of 2011.
