March 6, 2020: A terrorist attack targeted the U.S. Embassy in Tunis on Friday, March 6, according to the Tunisian Ministry of the Interior. Five police officers were injured in the explosion. One of them died from his injuries. The two attackers were also killed. A double suicide bombing on Thursday injured five police officers stationed outside the U.S. Embassy in Tunis, as well as one civilian, the Ministry of the Interior reported. The explosion occurred late in the morning near the diplomatic mission located in the Berges du Lac neighborhood, about ten kilometers from downtown. “The operation resulted in the deaths of the two attackers, injured five police officers, and slightly injured one civilian,” the Interior Ministry said in a statement.
