In the emergency room at Mongi Slim Hospital in La Marsa, a northern suburb of Tunis, department head Dr. Nour Nouira and her team must navigate the extreme stress of the daily COVID-19 crisis. All the rooms, the lobby, and the hallways of the department have been repurposed for COVID-19 patients, while the team must simultaneously handle routine emergency cases. The strain on the oxygen supply—which is in high demand due to the overload of patients—is the major problem, compounded by staff shortages as they grapple with the Delta variant.
