July 25, 2021: Mane Torkhani, volunteer and clinic nurse. COVID Crisis. To help and relieve the strain on Tunisia’s healthcare system during this COVID crisis, Rayen Hamzaoui, the young mayor of Ezzahra, in the southern suburbs of Tunis, set up a field hospital with about 20 beds. By appealing to his constituents and local businesses, he was able to fund fully equipped medical beds with oxygen concentrators. The medical staff consists of volunteer healthcare professionals who are dedicating their off-duty time to this temporary hospital. Their exceptional commitment and enthusiasm have been praised by the community and the patients.
