July 26, 2021: The day after President Kais Saeid announced the dismissal of the head of government as part of his constitutional “coup,” Kasbah Square in Tunis—the center of executive power, home to the Prime Minister’s Office, the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of Defense, has been cordoned off and cleared of its civil servants, who were barred by the army from returning to their posts this morning. As the day drew to a close, Kais Saied, who now holds all powers, announced a complete administrative shutdown across the country for two days.
