September 26, 2021: Two months after President Kais Saied’s constitutional “coup,” and a few days after his decisions that violated the 2014 constitution, the first real anti-Saied demonstration calling for the preservation of that constitution brought together nearly 3,000 protesters on Habib Bourguiba Avenue in Tunis, mostly activists from the Islamist Ennahdha party but also from a few small left-wing parties. The slogans ranged from “Get out, Saied” to “Get out, France.”
