During the Jewish pilgrimage to the Ghriba Synagogue, the tradition is the Manara procession. This cart, covered with scarves—symbols of wishes left there throughout the day by women—is pulled by pilgrims through the streets of Hara Sghira. In recent years, for security reasons, the route has been shortened, and the procession leaves the synagogue grounds and travels 200 meters, accompanied by nearly 300 people, it will pass along the wall of the neighboring Muslim school, which would become the terrorist’s refuge and the site of his attack one hour after the procession and the pilgrims had passed by, © Images de Tunisie — watermarked preview
