October 6, 2019: On election day for Tunisia’s legislative elections, more than 7 million voters are called upon to elect members of the Assembly of the Representatives of the People—217 deputies to be chosen from among 1,506 slates spread across 33 districts. At 7:30 p.m., the ISIE announced a voter turnout of 41.50 percent—the lowest for these elections since 2011. The election uses a single-round proportional representation system based on party lists. Nearly 14,000 polling stations have been set up in Tunisia and abroad. The final results are expected within three days of the election.
