Egyptian-style amulets made of siliceous clay. Intricately crafted, they often form the motifs of necklaces and are found by the dozens in the richest tombs. Whether imported from Egypt or produced locally, they are believed to possess magical protective powers. (H. 8.2 and 7 cm, Carthage, 5th–4th centuries BCE, Carthage Museum).
