Basile d'Hildeguns at the Makthar archaeological site—the ruins of ancient Mactaris—in west-central Tunisia is located in Makthar, a town on the northern edge of the Tunisian Ridge. The site is one of the largest in the country, and much of it has not yet been excavated. In addition to the numerous ruins within the archaeological park—such as the forum, the thermal baths, and the Schola des Juvenes—a small museum displays various archaeological artifacts found at the site.
