The Northwest Baths, home to a Christian basilica at the archaeological site of Makthar—the ruins of ancient Mactaris—in central-western Tunisia, are located in Makthar, a town on the northern edge of the Tunisian Ridge. The site is one of the largest in the country, and a large portion of it has not yet been the subject of archaeological research. In addition to the numerous ruins housed within the archaeological park—such as the forum, the thermal baths, and the Schola des Juvenes—a small museum displays various archaeological artifacts found on the site.
