Between the first march organized by the new political alliance “Union for Tunisia”—which brings together the progressive parties Nidaa Tounes, Al Joumhouri, Al Massar, the Socialist Party, and the Patriotic Party—and the march by supporters of Ennahda and the Leagues for the Protection of the Revolution (LPR), tensions were at their peak but were kept under control by a large and effective security presence.
