June 26, 2015: Around the deserted pool, the tourists’ lounge chairs and belongings remained, evidence of their sudden flight. A terrorist attack took place at a hotel in the tourist area of Port El Kantaoui, north of Sousse. A young Tunisian terrorist opened fire for nearly half an hour on tourists, from the hotel beach all the way to the reception area, resulting in a preliminary death toll of 39 among tourists and Tunisian employees, before being shot dead by law enforcement. The Tunisian Ministry of Health states that among the injured are people of British, Belgian, German, and Norwegian nationalities, among others.
