June 26, 2015: A Belgian tourist and his wife, who witnessed the attack, tell their family that they survived but that their friend died. Terrorist attack at a hotel in the tourist area of Port El Kantaoui, north of Sousse. A young Tunisian terrorist opened fire for nearly half an hour on tourists, from the hotel beach all the way to the front desk, resulting in a preliminary death toll of 39 among tourists and Tunisian employees, before being shot and killed by law enforcement. The Tunisian Ministry of Health states that among the injured are people of British, Belgian, German, and Norwegian nationalities, among others.
