May 25: In Sidi Bouzid, the warehouse of Faouzi Gammoudi, the main beer supplier for Sidi Bouzid, was ransacked by Salafists after a group described by the Salafists as “Faouzi’s gang” fired shots at the Al-Rahma mosque, wounding two people. Two large semi-trucks, two trucks (3.5 metric tons), and a car were set on fire, as were the surveillance cameras and a large stock of beer and wine.

Negotiations with the bar owners were unsuccessful. The Salafists and the neighbors demanded the closure and relocation of the two bars and two warehouses from downtown Sidi Bouzid to the industrial zone. Following the attack on the mosque, the Salafists organized a march (1,000 people). During a speech in front of the Al-Rahma Mosque, they demanded: “A total ban on the sale of beer and wine in Sidi Bouzid.”
