April 10: Young people participated for the first time in political and civic meetings, where they learned about politics and freedom of expression as they explored the major issues facing civil society. This Sunday at the Palais des Congrès provided the occasion for a major debate among members of civil society organizations on behalf of the citizens’ initiative for active citizenship. A large petition was launched for a citizens’ initiative: “The revolution for dignity and freedom affirmed our people’s will to fully exercise their sovereignty by establishing a republican and democratic system, breaking with dictatorship and corruption, and putting an end to the decline of institutions. Considering that our people’s aspiration is to build a civil society that enshrines a culture of citizenship and freedom, we believe that the drafting of a new Constitution requires a national consensus, the principles of which must draw inspiration from the heritage of our civilization, the values of modernity, and the achievements of our people.”
