August 9, 2019: Abdelafatah Mourou, co-founder and vice president of the Ennahda Party, submitted his party’s nomination on the final day of candidate registration at the ISIE for the September 15 presidential election, in the presence of Rached Ghannouchi and other leaders of the Islamist party. There was a very large turnout, with 98 candidates in the end, but only 25% of the applications passed the initial review.
